William Franklin "Frank" Wilson, 80, of Belle Rive, Illinois, passed away at 7:04 am April 8, 2024 at Stone Bridge Memory Care in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born April 27, 1943 in Mount Vernon to the late Elisha and Viola (Genevo) Wilson. Frank married Phyllis (Hamson) Wilson on December 22, 1963. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage.
In addition to his beloved wife, Frank is survived by his children, Todd Wilson of Irvington, Illinois and Doug Wilson and wife, Denise of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild expected soon; siblings, Bill Wilson, Rosalie Faulkner, Charlie Wilson, Danny Wilson, Jr. Wilson, Kathy Boone, and Nancy Hackett; sister-in-law, Vivian Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his siblings, Delores Fairchild, Mary Jane Dees, and Ronald Wilson; and siblings-in-law, Paul Ward Hamson, Dennis Ray Hamson, Elmer Lavern Wilson, and Mary Kathryn Pierce.
Frank proudly served in the Illinois National Guard. He was a member of the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent. Frank started his career as a plumber and pipe fitter for H and H Plumbing in Mount Vernon. He later worked out of West Frankfort Local 551 Union Hall. Frank was a farmer and raised beef cattle for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and cherished him.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church in Belle Rive. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Jeremy Hamson officiating. Interment will follow at Belle Rive Cemetery in Belle Rive. Memorials may be made in Frank's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
